Kerala Movie Business Declares Indefinite Strike Over Actors’ Salaries – Tamil Information


The Kerala movie {industry} has determined to go on an indefinite strike from June 1, urging a discount in actors’ salaries. A joint assembly involving the Kerala Movie Producers Affiliation, Distributors Affiliation, and Kerala Movie Staff Federation was held on Thursday. In the course of the assembly, it was determined to protest towards the rising leisure tax and escalating salaries of actors.

As a part of the strike, movie shootings shall be halted, theaters will stay closed, and no entertainment-related occasions will happen, as introduced by the Kerala Movie Producers Affiliation.

Talking on the matter, Producers Affiliation President G. Suresh Kumar stated, “The state authorities has elevated leisure tax together with GST. Regardless of repeated requests for tax discount, no motion has been taken. In the meantime, actor, director, and technician salaries proceed to rise. Even new actors are demanding salaries in crores. In comparison with their pay, theater collections aren’t even 10% of it. Manufacturing prices are rising, and lots of movies are going through losses. Moreover, OTT platforms aren’t shopping for all of the movies, main us to take this drastic step of occurring strike.”
